A heartfelt tribute to Dee Mama, ezigbo nne by The family of Ayogu, David Emeka.

…and we ask again, “Death, where’s thy sting?” Dee Mama, where do we start from? It’s well, just as you would always tell us. Dee Mama would always tell us that everything is well. At a point, it became clear to us that she saying that everything is well doesn’t necessarily mean that everything is well in its real sense, but to affirm her believe that everything will definitely be well irrespective of life’s challenges and difficulties. To also affirm her faith and trust in God who should be glorified at all times, whether good or bad. We have grown with this her mentality and it has helped in shaping our lives for good. Well, we are forever grateful for the unwavering guidance and love you provided Dee Mama. Your unshakeable confidence in mother-general nature, teaching everyone around you right from wrong, and encouraging us to live better has had a profound impact on our lives. Your unwavering support and belief in us have shaped us into the persons we are today.

Dee Mama, your fearless authenticity and unbridled honesty were balanced by the purity of your intentions and the truthfulness of your actions, leaving us with a deep sense of love and humility.

As we move forward, we draw strength from your remarkable qualities: Generosity, uncompromising pride, unrelenting resilience, sensitivity, and kindness. Your courageous battle against injustice at all cost was a testament to your unwavering dedication and unbreakable spirit.

Kaiiiii! Dee Mama, who would call God the name “Protocol breaker” to our hearing again! She would always call God this name to prove His supremacy over the affairs and rules of men, signifying that God will always have mercy on those He will have mercy on, irrespective of one’s condition. Ezigbo nne, your love remains etched in our hearts, forever and always.

We know you’re gone, but your presence remains with us, a constant reminder of the power of unconditional love. For those who love with their hearts and souls, there is no separation, only eternal connection with God, our Maker.

May our Merciful God grant you eternal rest, ezigbo Mama!

  1. We miss you so much!
