Mama D’ Mama, like I always call you. I was already benefiting from your goodwill even before I met you. First was the gift of Ifesinachi, my friend turned brother, and then the delicious meals he always brings back to school whenever he comes home to see you. The first bitterleaf soup I ever tasted was from your kitchen and till date I still eat that soup with relish. I can still remember vividly the stainless steel food flask that always turns up whenever Ifesinachi gets back from Okpuje.
You treated me like your son, welcomed me into your home with open arms. Your love and care was second to none. I recall how you made a huge cooler of rice for me to feed my friends during my convocation. Or should I talk about the cash gifts?! You somewhat knew that students were always broke (lol) and you give me money whenever you had the opportunity.
Mama, though you are gone to be with the lord, your memory lingers on in our hearts. We will never get through this vacuum you have left in our lives, especially Ifesinachi. But we are confident that we will meet at the feet of the Lord on the last day. Rest on Mama, we love you but God loves you most. ❤️
Mayaki Topa.
